Usually....

I'm pretty sure I've started a blog before. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've started a blog a couple of times, on this very website. I'd like to say that I will stick with this one, persevere, this time it's different. But there's a good chance that this blog will end up with the rest of my written attempts at sharing my adventures with the world...lost somewhere in cyberspace where even I can't access them because I can't remember which variation of my normal password I used to create them. But I'm going to try.

Justin left for San Antonio on Saturday. We've all gotten pretty used to him being gone, but it's always an adjustment. Myka has the hardest time adjusting. She is used to bolting upstairs in the morning to jump up and get 10 minutes on the bed before I come back up and kick her off. Caden is probably better behaved when Justin is gone because I think he knows that Mama will snap if she hears lots and lots of whining. Eslie doesn't really understand...sometimes he's home and sometimes he's not...she deals. I just have to tell myself to take things one day at a time, look forward to nap time, and take full advantage of grandparents and their willingness (or is it demanding-ness?) to babysit for free.

I picked Caden up from preschool today and all the kids had made Mother's Day presents. He couldn't wait to give me mine so he opened it for me in the car, then made me close my eyes when we got home so he could surprise me with it. He made a flower out of a cutout of his hand, and it had a beaded pipe cleaner for the stem. It was adorable. Here's the kickster (Bones, anyone?): in the card, he drew a picture of several mixers. Yep, like, Kitchen-Aid mixers. I'm not sure what that means, but it made me laugh. I'm keeping it for ever and ever.
